The two-day meeting of DVV International regional leaders was a great success. With around 40 participants, it took place on 19 and 20 June on the premises of vhs Bonn.
The programme included discussion rounds, presentations and workshops on topics such as the role of adult education in the context of lifelong learning, the new challenges – under changing geopolitical conditions – to work which fosters development, and the importance of regional networks for sustainable development in partner countries. The participants from Africa, Asia, Europe and Latin America also had the opportunity to learn, in working groups and through short portraits, about successful projects in the network.
Uwe Gartenschlaeger, Director of DVV International, emphasised the importance of the meeting: “The network meetings are always good opportunities for us to exchange ideas and experiences. The different perspectives and framework conditions in the countries and regions where DVV International is active always provide important impulses for the strategic development of sustainable approaches. Moreover, scientific data and analyses show the complexity and often underestimated importance of adult education promoting development.”
Within the DVV, DVV International can rely on a network of more than 200 partners in 30 countries and is thus of greatest importance for the international work of the vhs.
The next meeting will take place in Bad Homburg in July 2024.
