Accessibility Statement

As a public sector body within the meaning of Directive (EU) 2016/2102, we aim to make our websites and mobile applications accessible in compliance with the provisions contained in the Federal German Act on Equal Opportunities for Persons with Disabilities (Behindertengleichstellungsgesetz – BGG), as well as with the German Ordinance on Barrier-Free Information Technology (Barrierefreie Informationstechnik-Verordnung – BITV 2.0), in transposition of Directive (EU) 2016/2102.

The following declaration on accessibility applies to the website https://www.dvv-international.de.

Status as regards compatibility with the requirements

This website is largely in compliance with the requirements of accessibility emerging from section 3 (1) to (4), and section 4, of the above Ordinance, which were issued on the basis of section 12d of the Act on Equal Opportunities.

The examination of compliance with the requirements is based on a self-evaluation that has been carried out. Restrictions are described in the section below.

Non-accessible content

Sub-areas which are not accessible:

  • The newsletter forms are provided by an external add-on, and are not currently accessible. Input fields and error messages are not optimally comprehensible to and useable via screen readers in particular. Some graphical user elements also do not yet meet the requirements in terms of sufficient contrast. Technical restrictions caused by the external solution mean that these elements cannot be made fully accessible in the near future.
  • Many of the PDF documents that can be found on our website, and older specialist publications in particular, do not meet today’s accessibility requirements. These files were created and published before the latest legal requirements came into effect. The very considerable effort currently prevents us from making all these documents retroactively accessible. We are making efforts to ensure that all new PDF documents that we create comply with current accessibility standards.
  • Integrated YouTube videos do not always satisfy accessibility requirements (where videos are for instance not subtitled). We aim to provide subtitles as quickly as possible after publication, if they are not already available at the time of release.
  • The technology used does not always label abbreviations as such. Foreign-language sections and words are not always marked as such.
