UNESCO has organised global high-level events on Adult Learning and Education (ALE) since 1949. The seventh International Conference on Adult Education (CONFINTEA VII) will be hosted in 2022 by Morocco. Over 1,000 participants are expected to take part in the conference, which will examine effective adult learning and education policies within a lifelong learning perspective and within the framework of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Conference participants will develop a new framework for action on adult learning and education that will replace the Belém Framework for Action (BFA), adopted at CONFINTEA VI in 2009.
The global adult education community perceives the CONFINTEA VII process, which started in 2021 with national reports and regional preparatory conferences, as an important landmark for advocating for ALE and for productive exchange between governments, civil society and international organisations.
DVV International supports the process through its regional and country offices. The director of DVV International is a member of the consultative group, coordinated by UNESCO.
Because information sharing is crucial in this complex process, this subpage will provide you with easy access to many documents published in the context of CONFINTEA VII, including official documents and statements from civil society actors and representatives of various regions.
