With its Annual Report 2025, DVV International looks back on the past year and illustrates, through concrete examples from its more than 30 partner countries, how adult learning and education (ALE) contributes to sustainable development and social participation.
Adult learning and education “strengthens key future skills such as critical thinking, digital literacy, and personal resilience. In doing so, it empowers people to shape their lives independently. Moreover, it supports those who often have insufficient access to the formal education system,” writes Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer, President of the German Adult Education Association (DVV), in the report’s foreword.
To enable access to high-quality education for as many people as possible, DVV International worked alongside its approximately 200 partners worldwide last year to support the development of strong ALE systems. In the Annual Report, we present, among other things, the first regional legal framework for ALE in the Andean region, report on the Ugandan government's investment of 20 million euros in expanding adult learning and education, and show how an inclusive distance learning programme is opening up new educational pathways for deaf people in Ecuador.
