The three-year project “EU4Culture: Stronger Communities and Initiatives” concluded in Armenia at the end of April 2021. The project was financed by the European Commission and DVV International with funds from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
The project has contributed to the strengthening of civil society in three Armenian provinces (Gegharkunik, Kotayk, Shirak). Selected local non-governmental organisations were empowered to develop measures in the field of culture and tourism in order to promote the development of their own communities. Furthermore, the civil society organisations were strengthened in their communication and cooperation with state institutions and local authorities as well as other relevant stakeholders.
A consortium consisting of DVV International and the three local partnering NGOs, Media Initiatives Centre, Armenia Centre for Democratic Education CIVITAS and the Association of Museum Workers and Friends was able to successfully implement the project despite the COVID-19 pandemic and the 44-day military conflict over the Nagorno-Karabakh region in 2020.
Further information on the project and an overview of the results achieved were summarised in a publication at the end of the project and can be downloaded here:
