Expert Paper published on vocational youth and adult education

As a new publication format, the Expert Paper introduces current topics related to adult education and development cooperation into the debate among experts and the public.

As a specialist organisation for adult education and development, DVV International makes its expertise available via publications, supports specialist conferences, and carries out studies as part of its project activities worldwide. As a new publication format, the Expert Paper introduces current topics related to adult education and development cooperation into the debate among experts and the public.

In its new Expert Paper, DVV International combines its expert knowledge with the experience that it has gathered in its work in more than 30 countries. The first edition of the Expert Paper addresses the topic of vocational youth and adult education. It shows the framework, challenges and areas of activity of vocational training in development cooperation. Examples from the project work reveal the approach taken by DVV International: Vocational training includes not only formal in-company training, but it comprises above all offers of non-formal, external training, informal learning and literacy as well as basic education orientated in line with requirements and with the labour market which are vital in development cooperation.

In order to acquire and maintain skills for the constantly-changing labour markets, young people and adults who are able to engage in gainful employment need continuous vocational further training that is provided to them at local level. DVV International perceives youth and adult education as a bridge to the labour market, providing people with comprehensive skills and abilities that enhance their employability, thus enabling them to take their place in society and nurturing their personal development.

The Expert Papers will appear sporadically in German and English, they are available online and can be obtained free of charge from DVV International at info@dvv-international.de.
