A virtual seminar on “skills and competencies” organised by the International Council for Adult Education (ICAE) will start on 3 April. The seminar is free of charge and open to anyone.

Following each issue of DVV International’s journal Adult Education and Development, the International Council for Adult Education (ICAE) offers an opportunity for a discussion of the topics raised in the print issue in a virtual seminar.

The virtual seminar aims to promote a debate and dialogue on selected articles from the journal in order to delve deeper and broaden the analysis. It creates a virtual space as an opportunity to share experiences on the concept of skills and competencies, in different regions and contexts, and to inspire new initiatives.

The virtual seminar will start on 3 April and will last for approximately three weeks. The following articles of issue 83 of Adult Education and Development will be the starting point of the seminar:

The New Skills Agenda for Europe
By Dana Bachmann and Paul Holdsworth, European Commission

Enhancing competencies in the Arab world: issues to be considered
By Rabab Tamish, Betlehem University, Palestine

The five skills it takes to build another possible world – Learning from and for the World Social Forum
By Alessio Surian, University of Padova, Italy

Soft skills in non-formal education: building capacities of the youth

By Priti Sharma, PRIA International Academy, New Delhi, India

The seminar is free of charge and open to anyone. Do you want to participate? Send an e-mail to policy@icae.global. Registration is open now and until the beginning of the seminar. The virtual seminar runs via e-mail in English. Your contributions can be sent in French or Spanish as well and will then be translated into English.
