On March 1, 2023, Christoph Jost handed over the management of DVV International to the previous deputy director of the Institute, Uwe Gartenschlaeger. Christoph Jost will take over the management of the Southeast Asia regional office in Vientiane, Laos and is now beginning with corresponding preparations. At a handover in Bonn, he thanked his colleagues at headquarters and at the Institute's more than 30 country and regional offices for the good and trusting cooperation over the past seven years. Christoph Jost is optimistic about the future. "Thanks to its qualified and committed employees and partner structures, the Institute is ideally positioned to promote sustainable structures for youth and adult education and to make important contributions to development in its partner countries and international understanding. Especially in times of multiple crises like the one we are currently experiencing, what is needed is not less but more youth and adult education in order to give people around the world perspectives and give them confidence. Here we can equally build on a strong Adult Education Association with its 16 State Associations and 900 adult education centers in Germany and on our global partner network." Uwe Gartenschlaeger expressed his gratitude to his predecessor for the work he had done and emphasised that "in times of change, the expansion of adult education services is more important than ever. DVV international will continue to work with its global partners to ensure that all people have access to educational opportunities, regardless of their age, gender, ethnicity or social status." Esther Hirsch, who since who has worked for DVV International for many years in Germany and abroad, will take over the deputy management
