“Stories of Palestine” – New project on promoting culture and education

Local community members participate in a session to identify community learning needs, Khuzaa Community Centre for Youth and Adult Education, Gaza Strip.

In partnership with Dar al-Kalima University College of Arts and Culture (DAK), DVV international recently launched the project “Stories of Palestine”. Funded by the European Union and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, the project aims at enhancing civil society in the preservation, reinforcement and promotion of Palestinian culture.

Over the next three years, “Stories of Palestine” will work towards bringing together stakeholders from the educational and the cultural scene in Palestine. First of all, local adult education centres will be strengthened and enabled to encourage community members to engage in cultural education and action through curriculum design, capacity development, training of local cultural facilitators and the support for various start-ups.

Secondly, the engagement of the targeted communities in cultural and artistic expression will be helped by increasing opportunities for quality cultural education and action. Finally, these efforts will be enhanced by publicising and raising awareness about Palestinian culture through conducting festivals on a local level but also in Europe.

In this project, the DVV International office in Palestine is relying heavily on its local well-established partner organisations in the West Bank and Gaza, as we aspire to achieve the project’s goals in fostering cultural education and promoting the Palestinian cultural narrative all together.
