When it comes to tackling global challenges, cities and urban spaces are of particular importance: they must find local and sustainable solutions and actively involve their citizens. This is where the Urban X-Change Network comes in, a project of DVV International.
As part of the project, municipalities and adult education institutions from the United Kingdom, Ukraine, the USA, and Germany have joined forces to build nine partnerships to carry out cross-border cultural and educational activities in the framework of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
On October 26, 2023, the final conference of the Urban X-Change Network will take place under the unifying idea “Connect People. Act locally. Think globally / City Partnerships as a motor for international cultural and educational dialogue in challenging times”.
The conference will bring together the main actors of the nine city partnerships from adult education centres, city administration/town twining and civil society organizations, with high level representatives from the German Federal Foreign Office, the German Adult Education Association, the German Association of Cities (Deutscher Städtetag), the UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning (UIL), as well as many other guests from different adult education institutions, universities, think tanks, foundations and civil society.
The event will explore the role and potential of partnerships between cities in a global context, present the work of our nine city partnerships and reflect on their contribution in the context of Urban/Citizen diplomacy.
The entire event can be streamed live on the project website from 3 p.m. on the day of the event.
